Internet Mapping

Google Earth

Google Earth is a revolutionary new Internet-based software service that allows users to access, view and manipulate mapping data from around the globe. Google Earth software can be downloaded for free from http://earth.google.com/. For a low annual charge, users can upgrade to more powerful software and more detailed data.

In effect, Google Earth provides free or low cost software for exploring, sharing, and presenting GIS data ranging from high detail to broad detail, across the world. Terranean staff can implement your data in Google Earth to maximise your benefit from this global software. Previously this would have required tens of thousands of dollars worth of Internet-based software.

Specifically Terranean can:

  • Add more detailed data such as floor plans, aerial photography, satellite imagery, property boundaries, and street networks over your areas of interest;
  • Implement your GIS data as Google-Earth layers;
  • Share you data via Google Earth with another Internet user, whether they are managers in others States, staff in your own office, or clients on the other side of the world; and
  • Train you to use Google Earth to add your own data to the mapping base.

Is this relevant to your organisation?

  • If your company has numerous offices, branches, or outlets, Terranean can help you create detailed maps such as floor plans for each of these offices, so you can see the building layout, car park configuration, and geographic location, without physically visiting the office. Your can asociate your branches with business information, such as sales volumes, profit, or staff numbers, to provide detailed information about your company, Other information such as market catchements and socio-demographic data can be presented in Google Earth.
  • If you are a land development company with projects across Asia you can highlight the lot configuration and stage of development of all aspects of all projects, and use this data to market to and communicate with your global investors.
  • If you are a government planner who wishes to show a real worldview of a planning zone to the general public, this service would be most useful.
  • If you represent a mining company which wishes to put geological and geophysical data on-line.

Google Earth is much more than a gee-whiz geography aid; it is a powerful Internet mapping tool that dramatically reduces the cost of traditional Internet-based GIS. Contact Terranean to be the first in your field to use this powerful, cost-effective tool.
